S355JR sheets and plates are low-alloy, high-strength structural steel with good weldability and outstanding mechanical properties. Their common chemical composition consists of carbon (≤0.27%), manganese (≤1.60%), silicon (≤0.60%), phosphorus (≤0.045%), sulfur (≤0.045%), and traces of aluminium, copper, and nitrogen. The mechanical properties have minimum yield strength as 355 MPa, tensile strength ranging from 470-630 MPa, and elongation from 17-22%, imparting high toughness and impact strength.
